About us
Vector-Borne Real Time Arbovirus Detection and Response (RADAR) is a £1.15 million One Health project funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and Defra.
It brings together experts from different disciplines to investigate how zoonotic mosquito-borne viruses in wild birds emerge and spread in the United Kingdom. The project runs from 2023 to 2026.
Aims and objectives
We aim to enhance wild bird surveillance by working with wildlife rehabilitators, zoos and other stakeholders. The team is also sampling native and migratory birds in areas considered at higher risk of viral incursion. Also, when a virus is introduced into an area where it is not currently present.
