GAP-DC

Genomics for Animal and Plant Disease Consortium

About us

We bring together the UK’s leading organisations in pathogen detection and genomics. Together, we safeguard the health of animals, plants and ecosystems.

Designed to address the complexities of biosecurity, we foster a collaborative approach. This is done by leveraging the expertise of renowned institutions such as:

Aims and objectives

We aim to integrate both targeted and pathogen-agnostic genomic techniques to enhance the UK's capacity for early pathogen detection, rapid response, and effective disease control.

By aligning its vision with the UK Biological Security Strategy (2023), we bridge research across diverse ecosystems, delivering a unified framework for tackling established and emerging pathogens.

Also, we contribute to a resilient biosecurity strategy that supports biodiversity, agriculture, and public health.
