Confirmatory testing
On request, APHA offers training on TSE and related diagnostic methods.
APHA also considers visitors for short training placements, usually lasting 1 to 2 weeks. During these visits, participants can observe routine confirmatory diagnostic laboratory procedures and review historical material.
Participants must:
arrange and pay for their own travel and accommodation - training may incur bench fees (for example, for research materials or laboratory supplies)
have a good understanding, and preferably some previous experience, of Western blotting (WB), histology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) methodology
be able to work competently with instructions given in English
Contact the IRL 3 to 6 months before a proposed visit to ensure a suitable date can be agreed.
